First fish of the year!!!

Well, it's not that pretty, but this Freshwater Drum (also known as a Sheephead) was my first one of the year. I got this guy yesterday.

Today, I caught a couple of nice yellow perch - but I don't have any photos to back up that claim :)

Ah... Fishing Season!

Today I went fishing.

It's been about 6 months since I've done any fishing. So it felt pretty good to get out there again. I didn't catch anything. It didn't matter. I was fishing!

So, in honour of fishing season, I am posting some photos from the last couple of years. (John - you've probably seen these already) They're all taken around CCIW's docks.

I'll be sure to post photos of the fish that we're catching this year, too.

I can't wait...

HMCS Halifax in Hamilton Harbour

This spring, HMCS Halifax will visit many cities along the St. Lawrence River and the Great Lakes in a naval recruitment effort. While in Hamilton, it will be docked at Pier 8 (Catharine St. Wharf) and will be open to visitors from May 4 - 6 from 1 - 4 pm.
Today, it came through the Burlington Ship Canal. (working right on the harbour has allowed me to see many interesting ships entering and exiting the harbour over the years) Here's what it looked like coming into the bay:

Exotic lizards in Hamilton???

Well, its been a while since I've posted anything, so I thought I'd put up some pictures that I took this past weekend at a first birthday party for my Godson, Payton. His parents hired "The Lizard Store" to come and entertain and educate the kids - although the adults were equally interested!

Here are some photos from the party:
Tarantula
I can't remember what kind of lizard this is, but it's kind of cute!
Here's Payton and his Dad, Derek getting a safe look at a baby crocodile - Crikey!!

This is "Kong", a 75 year old snapping turtle with quite a bad temper.

Here, Jordan (in the green shirt) is showing the girls a New Caledonian Crested Gecko.

This little guy doesn't have any reason to be scared of the snake - not like some of the older folks who were standing as far away as possible!

I think this guy is a green anaconda - 15 feet long, 120 lbs.
Sorry - no pictures of me holding anything more dangerous than a 1 year old!

I've also located some videos that were posted on YouTube by other audience members. ( I do notice that the audio seems to be off from the video a bit...) Try these out, too:

Laundry and KFC

You can see that Pat came by Grandma and Grandpa's place tonight. Grandma helped Pat get his laundry done and we all had KFC for dinner. mmm...kfc. (there was a salad, too, but I didn't get a picture of that...)
It was a very short visit, but it was good to spend time with him. We're going to see his play next week, "The Nightmare Before Exams". Looking forward to that! Maybe I can get some good photos to post...
